About Pennsylvania Construction Career Day

  • Pennsylvania Construction Career Day is an industry sponsored event for high school students to explore career opportunities in highway design, construction, and maintenance. Planned activities include operating heavy equipment, testing materials, surveying, welding, designing a bridge, use of safety equipment, concrete finishing, drilling, rebar tying, estimating a job, use of GPS/GIS information technology, and much more. Small groups of students are escorted by construction industry volunteers who serve as a source of information about the business as well as guides to the activities.

    • Construction Career Day events are now being planned around Pennsylvania to give high school students, as well as career counselors, an opportunity to learn more about the Commonwealth’s $3 billion annual transportation construction industry.
